SUMMARY:Manchester Folk & Red Deer Club present Brown Wimpenny's album launch
DESCRIPTION:Tickets Here \nSaturday 6th June 2026 / 7 pm – 10 pm\nSt. Margaret’s Church\, Rufford Rd\, Whalley Range\, Manchester M16 8AE \nPlaying their debut album in full \nThis event is BYOB \n– \nA collective who mine the transcendental collective power of traditional folk music\, Brown Wimpenny\, split between Manchester\, London and Liverpool\, are bringing communities together to celebrate that rich catalog of folk songs owned by no individual in particular bar humanity itself. \nTaking their name from a distant 19th century relative of tenor banjoist Seth Lockwood’s\, Brown Wimpenny began with informal get-together Sunday jam sessions in his Manchester living room. Growing as large as 25 members before being whittled down to its current number of 11\, early gigs saw the band take up half the capacity of the room they were playing in\, lyrics being passed around to attendees too\, as part of a broader ideal of reducing the gap between audience and performer. \n“We see the band as a shared social and creative endeavour.” explains Anna Korbel. “We love the sense of the everyday and the normal\, and rejoicing in the collective and communal. I think that’s the key to our process and our ethos. We’re not over-egging anything. We’re just seeing it and playing as it is.” \nDebut album ‘Long Live Brown Wimpenny’ is released Friday\, 5th June on Broadside Hacks \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Leo Brazil + Linden Pomeroy
DESCRIPTION:Leo Brazil\nLeo Brazil has been creating his own music since he was a child singing into a tape machine. Drawing on a love of classic pop\, rock and roll and soul\, Leo writes thoughtful songs with a lyrical focus and a confident musical individuality. Running a label out his home studio brewing up a unique\, quirky and colourful evolution of sound\, 2026 sees two album releases; the introspective wonky folk solo album Alone and the bombastically heavy psych-rock of the dinosaur inspired band Bone Wars. Leo plays keyboards\, drums and violin but live he sticks to guitars and banjo to conjure up emotive ballads alongside rousing ear worms and foot stomping guitar freak outs. \nHe has supported The Crazy World of Arthur Brown\, Son of Dave\, Floral Image\, Trip Westerns\, The Blow Monkeys\, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly\, Chris Helme\, Space\, Miles Hunt\, Romeo and Michele Stodart\, Water Tower Band\, Jake Vaadeland\, The Blues Band\, Seamus Fogerty\, Liela Moss\, The Rails\, AK/DK\, Scott Lavene\, The Wave Pictures and many more… \nAlone by Leo Brazil \nLinden Pomeroy\nLinden is a West Sussex-based guitar player blending the rhythmic drive of American Primitive fingerpicking with the haunting\, folkloric landscapes of the South Downs\, Linden creates a deeply immersive solo acoustic experience. Recurring themes of occult mysteries\, ghosts and esotericism are woven into Pomeroy’s sets offering an evocative take on contemporary British fingerstyle guitar. \nHe’s performed at Lewes Psychedelic Festival in 2019 and 2023\, and alongside acts such as Julia Holter\, Tashi Wada\, Zoff\, Daisy Rickman\, Buck Curran\, Gwenifer Raymond\, Jali Bakary Konteh and more. With releases on Ramble Records\, Third Kind Records and Illuminated Paths. \n“Linden Pomeroy’s work relishes the unorthodox and cherishes the arcane. The Worthing-based musician works in fields adjacent to the American Primitive tradition\, transplanting this into his native Sussex Downs. 2023 album Remien Vigilia was impressive\, but this year’s heady LP Other Downlands may just eclipse it. Pieces like “Devil’s Dyke” are equally informed by British folklore and the rudra veena-playing of Asad Ali Khan. It’s the work of a musician whose idiosyncrasies have a devotional\, ritualistic quality.” – Robin Murray\, Bandcamp Daily \n“His playing is effortless and reminds us of the Hull troubadour Michael Chapman. That is high praise indeed.” – Brighton Source \n“Linden Pomeroy\, 6 string\, 12 string and acoustic lap-steel\, From parlor to porch and back again the brilliance of Linden’s playing conjures the ghosts from the Delta through to John Fahey’s front stoop. This isn’t dead mimicry though\, this is living\, breathing spirit stuff.” – The Rose Hill \nLatest album “The Cat Sang Out”\, is due on 3rd April on Ramble Records. \nOther Downlands by Linden Pomeroy
